My quilts

Take a look at the almost Christmas table quilt I made a couple of weeks ago measuring 74 cm square. The pattern is from the book "Simply Modern Christmas" by Cindy Lammon. I've used fabrics that are christmas in color but will work beautifully as modern piece after the festive season is over. I  drew marking lines first and then quilted this on my domestic Janome using waking & free motion feet in co ordinating white thread.

As promised yesterday I'm posting here a photo of a scrap modern styled quilt I've just made for my brother in law who is recovering from a stroke.
Measuring 46" x 60" I've used cotton shirts (I only needed 1 sleeve so still have plenty of fabric for a few more) and combined it with the plain grey and stripe with highlights of orange for a lift. The only additional fabric was the turquoise. He didn't have a turquoise shirt, but i felt it needed a little more color. I quilted it on the long arm and sewed the stripy binding on in record time of 1 hour 20 mins. I love using a stripe on the binding

Not a show stopper , but a good practical quilt, utilizing perfectly good fabric destined for the op shop or rag bin.

So next time you have clean out, you to maybe looking at a quilt. With all the buttons on the sleeves, pockets, fronts, collars & spares, I have half a jam jar of buttons to add to the collection too.
